In July 2015, Myanmar experienced one of the worst floods in its history, affecting communities across the entire country. Torrential rains and overflowing rivers displaced thousands of families, destroyed homes, and damaged vital infrastructure.
The Ayeyarwady Foundation responded immediately, launching emergency operations on 30 July in Kalay and Kantbalu (Sagaing Region), before expanding relief efforts nationwide in early August.

To strengthen its response, the Foundation established four base camps in Zalun, Ingapu, Thar Boung, and Yay Kyi (Ayeyarwady Region), which became vital coordination points for relief logistics, food distribution, shelter support, and medical care.
Teams of staff and volunteers from Max Myanmar Group, AYA Bank, and Ayeyar Myanmar Insurance worked day and night to reach flood victims with emergency food, clean water, medicine, and shelter assistance, ensuring support even for remote communities cut off by floodwaters.
While 2015 marked the largest and most widespread flood relief mission in our history, the Ayeyarwady Foundation has consistently stood ready to help whenever floods occur. From 2014 to 2024 and beyond, we have continued to provide humanitarian aid, rehabilitation, and infrastructure support in flood-affected regions, reflecting our unwavering commitment to stand by communities in times of crisis.
