Philanthropic Policy

As a registered non-profit organization (NPO), we believe that our foundation is committed to making a difference through our philanthropic efforts, by creating a policy that is aligned with our values and principles of helping individuals and communities.

We firmly support the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, in particular the responsibility of business to respect human right and to understand and mitigate any adverse impacts. Our foundation’s philanthropy is a part of Corporate Sustainability, which is centered on being a good corporate citizen and having a positive impact in society, while improving the quality of life for communities and stakeholders.

Ayeyarwady Foundation’s commitment to human rights, environmental sustainability and anti-corruption efforts is grounded in our organization’s belief that profitability and corporate social responsibility are not mutually exclusive values.

In addition to our principles, we are influenced by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Labour Organization’s Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights and Work; OECD’s Guidelines, applicable ISO Standards, the GRI Sustainability Reporting Standards and the United Nations Global Compact.

We recognize and respect our obligation to adhere to local laws, wherever we operate. We will always strive to respect human rights and labor rights in the most inclusive and purposive manner and will encourage our business partners to do the same.

We believe that the protection of our planet and ecosystems is key to our foundation and are committed to conducting ourselves in an environmentally-friendly manner.

Ayeyarwady Foundation’s philanthropic policy focuses on supporting the following pillars.

  • Health Sector
  • Education Sector
  • Sports Development and Sport Programme
  • Disaster Management
  • Responsible Business Practices Program

Ayeyarwady Foundation will NOT make financial contributions to benefit:

  • Political organizations
  • Any organizations that discriminate on the basis of age, sex, race, religion, national origin, sexual orientation or disability with respect to employment
  • Any organizations designated as fundraising
  • In any situation Ayeyarwady foundation will not make a donation or financial contributions if doing so could be or appear to be an act of corruption, in violation of Anti-corruption Policy.

Ayeyarwady Foundation believes that accountability is fundamental to our approach to corporate social responsibility and we are committed to regularly reviewing and improving our practices. To the end, we are committed to monitoring our contributions under this policy, and to updating the policy on an annual basis.

We will report on the outcome of our philanthropic activities , as well as general progress on matters of corporate social responsibility, on an annual basis. When required, these reports will form part of our annual corporate reports or our statements under any applicable situations.
